34 “Salt is good, but if it loses its salty taste, you cannot make it salty again. 35 It is no good for the soil or for manure; it is thrown away.

“Let those with ears use them and listen.”

Luke 14:33–35 — The New International Version (NIV)

33 In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.

34 Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? 35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out.

Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

Luke 14:33–35 — English Standard Version (ESV)

33 So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

34 Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? 35 It is of no use either for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Luke 14:33–35 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. 34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Luke 14:33–35 — New Living Translation (NLT)

33 So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own.

34 Salt is good for seasoning. But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again? 35 Flavorless salt is good neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown away. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!”

Luke 14:33–35 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

33 So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

34 Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Luke 14:33–35 — American Standard Version (ASV)

33 So therefore whosoever he be of you that renounceth not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. 34 Salt therefore is good: but if even the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be seasoned? 35 It is fit neither for the land nor for the dunghill: men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Luke 14:33–35 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

33 Thus then every one of you who forsakes not all that is his own cannot be my disciple. 34 Salt then is good, but if the salt also has become savourless, wherewith shall it be seasoned? 35 It is proper neither for land nor for dung; it is cast out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Luke 14:33–35 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

33 In the same way, none of you can be my disciples unless you give up everything.

34 “Salt is good. But if salt loses its taste, how will you restore its flavor? 35 It’s not any good for the ground or for the manure pile. People throw it away.

“Let the person who has ears listen!”

Luke 14:33–35 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

33 In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not say good-bye to all his possessions cannot be My disciple.

34 Now, salt is good, but if salt should lose its taste, how will it be made salty? 35 It isn’t fit for the soil or for the manure pile; they throw it out. Anyone who has ears to hear should listen!”

Luke 14:33–35 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

33 So therefore, none of you can become my disciple if you do not give up all your possessions.

34 Salt is good; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored?35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; they throw it away. Let anyone with ears to hear listen!”

Luke 14:33–35 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

33 In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not renounce all his own possessions cannot be my disciple.

34 “Now salt is good, but if salt becomes tasteless, with what will it be made salty? 35 It is usable neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; they throw it out. The one who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Luke 14:33–35 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

33 “In the same way, you must give up everything you have. If you don’t, you can’t be my disciple.

34 “Salt is good. But suppose it loses its saltiness. How can it be made salty again? 35 It is not good for the soil. And it is not good for the trash pile. It will be thrown out.

“Those who have ears should listen.”

Luke 14:33–35 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

33 So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.

34 Therefore, salt is good; but if even salt has become tasteless, with what will it be seasoned?

35 It is useless either for the soil or for the manure pile; it is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
