Notice John 3:36: “He that believes on the Son has (ἔχει) everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides (μένει) on him. The present tenses indicate the continual present states. First, the present tense ἔχει tells us that one receives eternal life when he believes, not when he gets to heaven. Second, a person who is an unbeliever is already under the wrath of God, for it presently “abides on him.”
