13 Therefore this is what the Lord says:

“Inquire among the nations:

Who has ever heard anything like this?

A most horrible thing has been done

by Virgin Israel.

14 Does the snow of Lebanon

ever vanish from its rocky slopes?

Do its cool waters from distant sources

ever stop flowing?

13 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing. 14 Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?

13 So this is what the Lord says:

“Has anyone ever heard of such a thing,

even among the pagan nations?

My virgin daughter Israel

has done something terrible!

14 Does the snow ever disappear from the mountaintops of Lebanon?

Do the cold streams flowing from those distant mountains ever run dry?

13 Therefore thus says the Lord:

“Ask now among the Gentiles,

Who has heard such things?

The virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.

14 Will a man leave the snow water of Lebanon,

Which comes from the rock of the field?

Will the cold flowing waters be forsaken for strange waters?

13 So this is what the Lord says:

“Ask the people in other nations this question:

‘Have you ever heard anything like this?’

The people of Israel have done a horrible thing.

14 The snow on the mountains of Lebanon

never melts from the rocks.

Its cool, flowing streams

do not dry up.

13 Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Ask ye now among the nations, who hath heard such things; the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing. 14 Shall the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? or shall the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?

13 Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Ask ye now among the nations, Who hath heard such things? The virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing. 14 Shall the snow of Lebanon cease from the rock of the field? Shall the cool flowing waters coming from afar be dried up?

13 “This is what the Lord says: 

Ask among the nations if anyone has ever heard anything like this. 

The people of Israel have done a very horrible thing. 

14 The rocky slopes of Lebanon are never without snow. 

The cool mountain streams never dry up. 

13 Therefore, this is what the Lord says:

Ask among the nations,

Who has heard things like these?

Virgin Israel has done a most terrible thing.

14 Does the snow of Lebanon ever leave the highland crags?

Or does cold water flowing from a distance ever fail?

13 Therefore thus says the Lord:

Ask among the nations:

Who has heard the like of this?

The virgin Israel has done

a most horrible thing.

14 Does the snow of Lebanon leave

the crags of Sirion?

Do the mountain waters run dry,

the cold flowing streams?

13 “Therefore thus says Yahweh,

‘Please ask among the nations, “Who has heard the like of this?”

The virgin of Israel has done something very horrible.

14 Does the snow of Lebanon leave from the crags of Sirion?

Or are the cold waters flowing from distant mountains dried up?

13 So the Lord says,

“Ask the nations a question. Say to them,

‘Who has ever heard anything like this?

The people of Israel have done

a very horrible thing.

14 Does the snow ever disappear

from Lebanon’s rocky slopes?

Do its cool waters ever stop

flowing from places far away?

13 “Therefore thus says the Lord,

‘Ask now among the nations,

Who ever heard the like of this?

The virgin of Israel

Has done a most appalling thing.

14 ‘Does the snow of Lebanon forsake the rock of the open country?

Or is the cold flowing water from a foreign land ever snatched away?
